Amanda Leavenworth Amanda Leavenworth did not submit a Candidate Statement. Douglas Miner Cronk Road I am running for Town Clerk for a third term because continuity, stability, and integrity in the Town Clerk's Office matter deeply to me. Over the past several years, this office has made meaningful progress - modernizing operations, improving access to historical records, increasing the level of service, and doing so with a lower budget than when I first took office. That work should be built upon and continued, not left uncertain. Originally, I was not planning to run. The plan was for the Assistant Town Clerk to remain in the office through the Annual Town Meeting and election and then run for the position unopposed, with my full and public support. I believe this approach would have allowed for a smooth and responsible transition. However, that is not what occurred. The Assistant Town Clerk recently resigned abruptly and without notice and without a clear transition plan in place. This created an immediate need for stability. Based on the limited information available to me at the time, I made the decision - after careful consideration with my family - to run again so that there would be someone on the ballot and the office would remain fully functional. Even after that decision, there were opportunities for clarification that may have led to a different outcome. By the time I was able to confirm the full situation, the deadline to withdraw my name from the ballot had passed. This was not the path I planned, but I believe strongly in stepping forward when the Town needs it. My commitment is simple: I will serve this Town responsibly, consistently, and without hesitation. |
