Meet the Candidates

I am running as a "write-in" candidate for the Sandisfield Board of Assessors. I am currently on the Board and am serving as Board Chair. If re-elected, this would be my second three-year term. I have previously served the Town on the Finance Committee from 2017-2022, the last two years as Chair.

The Board of Assessors is a non-political office: we do not determine taxes. But we are responsible for the fair allocation across all property owners in Sandisfield of the amount to be raised from taxes approved at Town Meetings. To do that, we must follow the Massachusetts laws/regulations consistently and fairly.

The Assessors' office experienced significant challenges in the last two years when our Principal Assessor retired, ending their consulting arrangement, and our long-standing service provider closed their business. We have hired a new service provider, are in the process of upgrading our software, and we recently hired an office manager.

I would like to serve an additional term to manage these activities to completion and ensure a smooth transition for the new office manager.
