The Times acknowledges the death of our' founding editor and first chairman Simon Winchester, who died Tuesday, November 3, at his home in Sandisfield. We extend our sympathy to his wife, Setsuko, our friend and neighbor who also helped to found this newspaper, and to his sons. We will miss Simon's guidance and confidence, his wisdom and humor. A full obituary can be found at The New York Times, November 4. We will publish a tribute to Simon and his contributions to Sandisfield and The Times in our December issue.
