An estimated 200 visitors wandered through the New Boston Congregational Church's 2nd Annual Yard Sale that was jam-packed with antiques as well as practical and novelty items. Specials this year included an authentic wishing well, troves of stained glass and costume jewelry, and a one-of-a-kind "Sandisfield" sign painted by noted Connecticut artist Will Noad. |

Seen above is church member Ruth McCormick setting up home-grown plants galore. Ali O'Donnell of Boston, aka "Dame of Flames," returned for another thrilling fire performance. Many enjoyed hot dogs and burgers. Others had fun ringing the historic church bell. The congregation is grateful to the volunteers who worked so hard and to the generous donors of things and money which will be applied to the cost of a new church roof in 2027. While the event proceeded without a hitch, planners were increasingly concerned about an "iffy" wet weather forecast. A call for just-in-case tents was answered by individuals and especially A&M Auto and the Sandisfield Fire Department, who were on the spot with large tents and helpers. Thanks also to the New Boston Inn for again providing convenient parking for visitors. |
