You may have noticed that we’ve done a little face-lifting. We’ve changed the masthead and opened the typeface a bit, hoping to make our paper more welcoming and gentler to read. We’re a home-town paper after all, and our face ought to reflect the community we represent. Formerly our masthead was anchored by the state seal of the Commonwealth – dignified, official, and as cheerful as a jury summons. It served us well since our founding in 2010, sixteen years ago. But it seemed time for a new look. Our motto was Reliable, Regular, Relevant. That was partly correct. Over time we certainly made enough errors to question the notion of Reliable. We certainly were Regular -- eleven issues a year for sixteen years, never missed one, and still chugging along. And we tried to be Relevant; sometimes we were and sometimes not; relevance is in the eye of the reader. Our new masthead, with its airier typeface and the "Welcome to Sandisfield" sign, feels more like the paper we want to be – and more like the town we cover: warm, open, glad you stopped by. |
