Our Town should not be divided on safety issues. There has been a clear case of shoot the messenger and ignore the message. We asked for transparency from our Selectmen and when they give it to us some chose to pick what they wanted to believe. It has become clear that to continue to run our emergency services we need to purchase or be gifted Fire Station #2, a building that I believe the townspeople already own by generosity of contractors and individual donations. As we know, SFDI, the non-profit, has refused to gift the building with the reason they don't like the direction of the present SFD. I believe that the SFD is moving forward, the only direction to go. I am asking once again that the new Board of Directors and the past Board of SFDI agree to gift the building to the Town. This has become a hardship to our Town and will continue to be until SFDI does the right thing. The Town spoke loud and clear at the STM as to what the majority of voters want for the future of our fire department. Please. past president of SFDI Ralph Morrison, gift the building, so all the positive you have done for the Town is your legacy and that's what we all should and want to remember. |
