The New Boston Congregational Church has announced a multi-family yard sale to be held at the church September 19-21. Proceeds will go towards a new roof for the historic Gothic Revivalstyle building.

Dubbed "Not Your Ordinary Yard Sale," the organizers hope to attract buyers to a wide-ranging assortment of aboveaverage, interesting, vintage or practical things, items more likely to be found in consignment shops than at garage sales.

Chris Park who heads up collecting said, "We are looking for a little higher-end and good value items, new or lightly used things or collectibles we can offer in a range of $5 to $50, about 25 percent of what they might cost when new."

Also, there is going to be a special collection - the entire contents of the former parish hall/Sandisfield Grange headquarters that stands behind the church. The 1920s era building, which is in poor condition, has been mothballed since 2001. About a dozen sturdy wooden tables, numerous old chairs of many types, and other meeting hall furnishings, most of it probably dating from the 1930s and 1940s, will be displayed outside for sale.

Pastor Eric Kriebel said "The congregation is building on the community spirit and momentum generated from last years' 150th anniversary celebration. We hope for a good turnout to support a good cause."

The 1879 all-chestnut building is in virtually original condition and will be open for tours.
