It was a beautiful day to honor and remember our soldiers who are no longer with us.

Our thanks to everyone who turned out to line the parade route during Sandisfield's Annual Memorial Day Parade, May 25. It takes a lot of coordination to keep this tradition going. We are grateful to everyone who volunteered to help organize the parade and do the cooking and serving and clean-up at the very successful BBQ at the American Legion Pavilion.

We'd like to also thank the American Legion and their members, the Sandisfield Fire Department, the Cemetery Committee, and our newly formed Memorial Day Parade Committee. Thank you also to Tom O'Gara's Percussion Band which was resplendent in matching white uniforms.

And a big thank you to our neighbors, the Lee Marching High School Band for the great cacophony of sound and the New Marlborough, Tolland, and Monterey Fire Departments for sending your equipment and members to be there alongside our own Fire Department.

The Sandisfield Drum Corps, led by Tom O’Gara, began marching in the Memorial Day Parade in 2018. In starched white uniforms, they look as terrific as they sound.
