Dear Editor: After reading the fascinating article about the Adams-Hawley-Rowley farm in the Jan/Feb issue of The Sandisfield Times, I just want to take a moment to tip my hat to Ron Bernard and Jean Atwater-Williams who have contributed so much to the Town of Sandisfield. Ron's contributions to preserving the Town's history are seemingly unmatched, with important articles documenting historical happenings, years of service on the Sandisfield Historical Commission, a leading role in the 250th anniversary of the Town, three robust books, and a Knox Trail commemorative publication coming soon. Meanwhile, Jean is an important member of the Sandisfield Arts Center leadership team, designs many of Ron's publications, uses her Ukulele to bring joy to others, and organizes community events such as the recent radio play at the arts center, the New Boston Church Christmas caroling, and visit to Berkshire Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center. She is also very active in The Kanikapila Project, a healing initiative born out of the Maui wildfires, among other things. When Ron and Jean first moved to Sandisfield in the early 2000s, we were excited to get some new volunteers for the various activities taking place back then. I don't think anyone could have imagined the extent to which they would put their considerable skills to work enhancing life in Sandisfield. Well done, friends! |
