Donation Form

Dear Reader:

This year brought many changes to The Sandisfield Times, beginning with the retirement of our founding editor, Simon Winchester. For 14 years Simon made time amid a very active international journalistic career to focus on our town and to foster our newspaper as a vigorous forum for objectively reporting community news.

Other changes include the expansion of our board to include new voices and new skills. Our website was updated which enables us to respond more quickly to fast-breaking stories and allows readers to go directly to stories of interest.

Fortunately, Simon left behind a core of determined individuals who are dedicated to maintaining the Times’ commitment to reporting honestly and in a timely fashion the events big and small that shape our town. If there is a town election, you’ll find the facts here. And when the Recreation Committee sponsors a pig roast, we are there too, not only enjoying the outstanding barbecue and sides, but checking in with our neighbors and what is important to them. We do not charge Sandisfield nonprofits or Town committees for advertising or ad design, a tradition made possible only by the generosity of our readers

This is a challenging era for small towns such as ours. America is increasingly urbanized, while deep political divisions within our country have fractured communities, eroding the mutual good will that is fundamental to a functioning town. Thankfully, Sandisfield, with a few notable exceptions, has continued a mostly amicable exchange of views that has been a tradition since our incorporation as the Town of Sandisfield in 1762.

The Times is committed to helping to keep it that way.

There is another, critical piece to this, and that is you. Your support has made it possible for us to thrive for the last 14 years. Please continue to support our volunteer run newspaper by sending a much-welcome check to PO Box 584, Sandisfield, MA 01255 (see form on the other side of this letter). Or click the “Donate” button on our website at www.SandisfieldTimes.org

THANK YOU.

Sandisfield’s story – as it has for more than two centuries – continues to evolve. We hope that you will help us continue to record and share that unique evolution with your neighbors and community. And please accept from all of us at The Times our wishes for a very happy and peaceful holiday season and a safe and healthy year ahead.

Tom Christopher
President of the Board
