Some 175 family, neighbors, colleagues, and friends gathered at Gedney Farm on a bright Saturday afternoon, September 15, in New Marlborough, to honor the memory of Sandisfield’s Ben Luxon, a word-famous baritone whose career spanned most of three decades. After a welcome by Ben’s wife, Susie Crofut, selected speakers delivered memories about what this man had meant to them, including members of the Sandisfield Players, a local theatrical company created and directed by Luxon, who spoke of their “gift” of having been part of Ben’s productions at the Arts Center. Family members spoke and sang, including a poem written by Ben’s grandson and namesake and another grandson, Josh Luxon-Robinson who recently performed at the Sandisfield Arts Center, played Liszt’s “Consolation No. 3.” Ben’s son, Jonathan closed the program with a guitar solo.
